Read MoreOne week into the launch, Indonesia’s new tax system (Coretax) is facing technical issues. The technical issues have caused some services such as NPWP registration and other tax services that must use the system still cannot be done. The DGT is conducting an in-depth investment to identify the cause of the technical problems.
Director General of Taxes at the Ministry of Finance Suryo Utomo asked taxpayers not to worry if there is a delay in invoice issuance or reporting during the transition period. He ensures that the government provides a transition period for the implementation of this new system. “Later we will think about it so that there is no additional burden on the community when using a new system that may be slightly different from the system that has been used so far,” Suryo said at the APBN performance press conference at the Ministry of Finance office, Central Jakarta, Monday, January 6, 2025.
Coretax is the latest information technology system developed by the Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) to integrate all tax administration services in Indonesia. Coretax is officially implemented as of January 1, 2025 and the DGT has pre-implemented this new tax system from December 16 to 31, 2024. The policy regarding the Coretax system is contained in Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) Number 81 of 2024 stipulated by Sri Mulyani Indrawati on October 14, 2024. There are several examples of technical problems that occur in the cortex system, including:
Many taxpayers reported difficulties accessing Coretax, such as failed logins despite using the correct credentials from DGT Online. Several errors related to password reset were also reported. Then the Coretax server had experienced interruptions due to a surge in users trying to log in simultaneously.
A number of taxpayers reported that their data from DGT Online was not fully migrated to Coretax. This includes tax history, taxpayer profiles, and previously uploaded documents. Some taxpayers reported errors when trying to fill in personal data, such as the appearance of an “invalid data” message even though the data entered was correct.
The Directorate General of Taxes stated that it has monitored the problems that occurred and will immediately make improvements, including increasing server capacity, improving features, and providing more complete guidance for users. In addition, the DGT also opened an intensive consultation line through the helpdesk and official social media.
We advise you to stay calm and focus on your ongoing business. Always make sure you keep your business administration records in order during the Cortex system repair process.
